Alfa Romeo was originally known as A.L.F.A., as an abbreviation for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. An Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1910. Alfa Romeo has been a part of the Fiat Group since 1986. Alfa Romeo denoted racing cars in the pre-Second-World-War era. The image first appeared in 1923,prior to the start of the 14th Targa Florio. The variants of blue on white have been recently observed as well. This became the symbol of competition Alfas, denoting higher performance.

The Gold Leaf model was sold as the "159i" in some markets. In early 1980s, the Alfettas had top of the range models available sold as the "Silver Leaf" and "Gold Leaf" (Quadrifoglio Oro). Alfa Romeo also offered a Sprint trim level. Alfa Romeo car production moved during the 1990s to other districts in Italy. The 156 was launched in 1997, and became quite successful for Alfa Romeo and in 1998, it was voted “Car of the Year”. At the beginning of the 3rd millennium, the 147 was released, which won the vital title of “Car of the Year 2001”.
